COLLOM & CARNEY EYE INSTITUTE
Since our humble beginning in 1977 things have come a long way at Collom & Carney Eye Institute. When the institute was founded, it was located behind the Collom & Carney Clinic and saw about 10 patients a day with one doctor on site. Now the leading eye care center in the Ark-La-Tex, the institute serves betweeen 100-130 patients a day and has three ophthalmology partners – E.T. Ellison, M.D., Wanda Northam, M.D. & Charles Thornton, M.D.
The “Eye Institute” building is completely different now from the original building 35 years ago, which was a triple-wide trailer at the back of Collom & Carney clinic. Now, the “Eye Institute” has state-of-the-art 10,000 square foot facility that is free standing with its own cataract and yag laser surgery center behind.
The Collom & Carney “Main Clinic” is located at 5002 Cowhorn Creek, Texarkana, TX. It has seven satellite clinics, and 85+ physicians. The current “Eye Institute” team is made up of the four ophthalmologists, a refractive coordinator, eleven ophthalmic assistants, a full office staff and an optical supply. Patients can come to the institute for just about any eye treatment. There is also a retinal specialist and pediatric opthalmologist that come to the clinic on a 2-3 week basis to see patients. We have all the latest technology available – all the lasers for treatment of eye diseases such as glaucoma, diabetes, refractive surgery (LASIK and PRK), the latest in cataract intraocular lens technollogy (ReSTOR & Toric IOL’s), as well as correction for glasses and contact lenses.
